Muse du petit matin, Si tu veux bien, dépose sur mes paupières la caresse légère du colibri, Fais lever mon corps comme l’aube soulève la brume, Que ma main retrouve le chemin du pinceau, Et que la jumelle toile s’allume, Pour offrir à celle qui attend le deuxième miracle, La promesse tenue du rêve peint.

O Muse of tender morn,
If thou art pleased, lay on mine eyelids
The gentle stroke of the hummingbird’s caress.
Raise up my frame as doth the dawn the mist,
Guide back mine hand unto the painter’s path,
That the twin canvas may take light,
And unto she who waiteth the second wonder
Be given the vow fulfill’d of dream made paint.
